Dye Course Update 10/6/2012
The Dye Course has been closed since September 26th for overseeding and numerous other projects. The Poa trivialis on the greens typically takes about 7-10 day to germinate and looks to be right on schedule, with good germination starting to show after being seeded 8 days ago. The greens may be a little bumpy and slow when the course reopens, it will take approximately 10 day to get the new seedlings trained down and back to the speeds that you are accustomed to. The Perennial Ryegrass that is used on the tees has also germinated which should be expected by now as Rye typically takes 5-7 day for germination. All greens and tees will be mowed prior to reopening on Saturday Oct. 6th, however some areas may be a little wet from the continued watering to keep the newly established seed moist until it can grab a strong hold and establish a root system that can support itself. As the plants mature we will be able to scale the water back and dry things back to normal, this is the most critical time for the new plants as extra care now will determine what the playing surfaces will be like until transition next May.
