Sprigs on the Back Driving Range Tee at the Nicklaus

In the summer of 2012, the driving range fairway was sprigged with Celebration Bermudagrass to test how long it would take before it was in playable condition and to see how the new sprigs handles the overseeding process.  This summer we did the back driving range tee at the same rate to see how the tee will transition, also.

The tee was sprayed out with chemicals to remove the existing Bermuda grass and then was stripped and leveled for the sprigs.  The sprigs are hand shaken onto the soil and then tilled into the ground at a 3 inch depth.  This was done on June 17th and typically takes 8 weeks before it is in playable condition.  Additional fertilizer, watering and topdressing will take place and the tee should be playable again in late August.
